How Google search changed the appearance if its advertisements over the year:

@djoerd
If I read that correctly:
Number of indicators to clarify that link is an advertisement went down over time.
Number of distinct visual colours went down as well.
And the remaining little notification is getting smaller in size.

Any conclusions other than probably wanting to reduce "warning signs" and thus wanting to generate more traffic?

Out of curiosity: where were the "old" visual styles obtained from?

@jpvanacken And, oh irony:

"To make matters worse, some advertisers attempt to gain people’s attention by taking measures meant to mislead automated search engines."

@jpvanacken Also from that paper:

" we expect that advertising funded search engines will be inherently biased towards the advertisers and away from the needs of the consumers."
